Assistant Professor
Dr. Yanfang Wu is an assistant professor of emerging media and digital journalism in the Department of Journalism and Media Management, School of Communication, at the University of Miami. She had a broadcast journalism background and worked for the China Central Television (CCTV) and Beijing TV (BTV) before she joined the Missouri School of Journalism and earned her Ph.D. degree. Her research interests lie at the intersection of social media, artificial intelligence, and digital communication. She particularly focused on using both traditional and emerging quantitative and qualitative research techniques and analytics tools to examine the effects of emerging digital technologies on communication. Dr. Wu’s research has been published in scholarly journals such as Digital Journalism, Journalism Practice, Newspaper Research Journal, Telecommunication Policy, the Journal of Applied Journalism & Media Studies, and the Journal of International Communication. Her work has also been presented at international conferences such as the International Communication Association (ICA), the Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), and the International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
