Dr. Rhonda Trust holds a Ph.D. in Communication with an emphasis on health communication from the University of Connecticut.

Additionally, she holds a M.A. in Communication from Florida Atlantic University and a B.A. in Communication from Bridgewater State University.

She also has a certificate in Nutrition and Healthy Living from Cornell University and currently completing her credentials to become a Registered Dietician.

While earning her doctorate degree at the University of Connecticut she worked as a researcher for a Centers for Disease Control grant at the Center for Health Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) where she conducted mixed methods research on the topic of sexual disease prevention among urban young adults.

Her doctoral research focused on reproductive maternal health. Her dissertation quantitatively and qualitatively examined social influences on breastfeeding.

Over the past twenty years Dr. Trust has taught at several colleges and universities, including:  Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach State, University of Connecticut, Fairfield University, Boston University and University of San Diego.

At the School of Communication, she teaches in the Communication Studies Department: Research Methods, Writing for Communication, Public Speaking, Intercultural Communication, Capstone and more.

Her upcoming research focuses topics such as: The channels of communication of conscious eating among college students and nutritional education and food disparities among members of the greater Miami-Dade community. She works closely with local non-profit organizations that promote intercultural nutrition education.

Dr. Trust also owns her own consulting group, Trust Healthy Living, and speaks to many professional groups about the importance of health/nutrition literacy, and communication and conscience eating.

In her spare time, she promotes healthy eating and wellness on her Instagram page (@trusthealthyliving) cooks, bakes, exercises, runs ½ marathons and accompanies her family and dogs to the beach.
