A student seeking a communication major at the University of Miami must be enrolled in the School of Communication. Selecting a specific major(s) in the School of Communication has no direct or indirect impact on the admissions decision. You matriculate directly into the School of Communication in the first semester after being admitted as a new, first-year student.

Admitted students who matriculate into a different school or college during their first semester of study at UM may request an internal transfer to the School of Communication by following a set of policies and following a transfer process.

The Office of Admission should be contacted for any information about the admissions process or the status of an applicant’s file.

Any inquiries regarding grants, prizes, loans, or merit scholarships should be directed to the Office of Financial Services (OFAS).

The School of Communication has no say in admissions decisions nor offers merit scholarships or other financial aid for entering first-year students.
