Applying as an undergraduate student

Applying and Status Updates

To apply, follow the “How to Apply” steps outlined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions here. The Office of Admission should be contacted for any information about the admissions process or the status of an applicant’s file.

Financial Aid Inquiries

Any inquiries regarding grants, prizes, loans, or merit scholarships should be directed to the Office of Financial Services (OFAS).

The School of Communication has no say in admissions decisions nor offers merit scholarships or other financial aid for entering first-year students.

Selecting a Communication Major

Selecting a specific major(s) in the School of Communication has no direct or indirect impact on the admissions decision. You matriculate directly into the School of Communication in the first semester after being admitted as a new, first-year student.

Admitted students who matriculate into a different school or college during their first semester of study at UM may request an internal transfer to the School of Communication by following a set of policies and following a transfer process.

Changes of School/College and major are started with a form from the student’s school/college or academic department.

International Student Questions

Over 120 nationalities are represented by students at the University of Miami. For FAQs about the international admission and visa process see here.
