Senior Lecturer
Erin Brown is a senior lecturer of new media at the University of Miami School of Communication in Coral Gables, Fla.
A netizen in the early 1990s — before most recognized what the Internet was — Brown is highly skilled in the design and development of online media. She is an advocate of open-source ideology, digital freedom and privacy rights.
Brown previously worked as a sports journalist and producer for media entities such as ESPN, CBS Sports and Fox Sports. Her coverage focused predominantly on the NHL, but also included the MLB, NBA, NFL and PGA Tour.
Brown earned a B.S in Journalism with a focus in online media and M.A. in Mass Communication focusing in web design and online communication, both from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.
She is active in the amateur radio community, holding an Amateur Extra license and goes by the callsign K4EMB.
