Project Description
The efficacy of colonoscopy and FIT test screenings are, in part, a function of whether patients have adequately adhered to preparation and screening test guidelines. Unfortunately, even instructions provided by pharmacists, physicians, and pharmaceutical companies are typically unclear at best, and contradictory at worst.
This set of projects involves a collaboration between Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center faculty and 4C faculty and graduate students to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of instructions that are suitable for limited literacy populations. Additionally, the projects use a theoretical framework for the evaluation of the efficacy of the redesigned instructions that will allow us to deepen our understanding of why people do not adhere to preparation or test instructions, which will lead to more effective interventions in the future.
