Shiyun Tian joined the doctoral program in the School of Communication in fall 2017. She earned her master degree in Communication with a concentration in advertising from Shanghai International Studies University. She formerly worked as a strategic planner intern in Dentsu-Aegis Network and Bosch, and as an online marketing analyst intern in Meituan-Dianping.

Shiyun is interested in investigating fundamental questions of media psychology and the impact of media on society. Her research interests include media consumption and how mass and social media work as strategic tools in advertising and public relations, especially in the contexts of entertainment and political event.
