Ph.D. Student
Haoyu, also known as Millie, is a doctoral student in communication at the University of Miami. She primarily focuses on public relations, social media, and strategy consulting. Haoyu seeks to understand how social media affects marketing and helps people resolve employee issues. She has studied how social media influences job hunting and international consulting services in the past few years. Due to the COVID, Haoyu has also explored how social media exposure affects minority groups’ mental health and education inequity.
Prior to joining UM, Haoyu earned her MA in mass communication from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Haoyu has also presented at the 2020 Northeast Conference on Public Administration (NECoPA) conference for the Heart of Public Service in America division and presented at the 2021 American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) conference for Pandemics, Protests and the Future of Public Service panel. Some of her hobbies or favorite things to do are playing the piano, writing songs, skiing, hiking, and playing tennis.
