Graduating in 2023, Mu He is now an Assistant Professor of Public Relations in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Drake University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Miami (UM).

Before joining Drake, He worked as an instructor-of-record in the School of Communication at UM for three years. During this time, he taught various classes, including statistics, research methods, PR strategy, and sports publicity & promotions. At Drake, He has been teaching strategic communication courses and helping the school develop sports communication curricula.

He’s research primarily focuses on public relations and sports communication. For instance, he delves into the impact of organizational communication on assisting organizations and employees in navigating various crises. Additionally, his studies scrutinize media representations and coverage of minority athletes. He has also examined cross-national conflicts among sports organizations and the theoretical framework to explain fan-enacted communication in sports crises. He has contributed several articles to esteemed journals, including Public Relations Review, Journal of Public Relations Research, New Media and Society, International Journal of Sports Communication, and Communication & Sport.

He's awards and recognitions include Distinguished Fellowship in Communication, International Communication Association 2023 Top Student Paper, and 2024 J. E. Grunig and L. A. Grunig Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Award Finalist. He also served as a guest lecturer at Colorado State University and as a reviewer for academic journals.
