"The world has countless opportunities but just as many paths, which only sometimes lead to the outcome one seeks. Before making any decision, it is best to determine what you hope to achieve from it."
As a child, Jean-Paul Chreky had many interests, earning his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Master Scuba Diver certification, playing the violin and clarinet, adoring sports, and filming homemade movies.
Chreky graduated at the top of his class with a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Picture Production from the University of Miami. His graduate thesis film, The Shell (2005), won four of seven possible awards at the 2005 'Canes Film Festival. These include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editor, and Best Music. In 2004, Chreky’s graduate first-year film, Triton (2004), won the Jury Award, Best Director Award, and Best Cinematography Award. In 2008, a film he produced, No One Doubts the Camera Eye (2008), won the Best Picture and Best Editor awards at the same event. At the time, he was the only University of Miami MFA film student to win the Best Director Award for both thesis and first-year films. The Shell (2005), No One Doubts the Camera Eye (2008), and Trunk (2009) are also Florida Choice Award recipients selected by The Education Channel and have screened at Paramount Studios.
Since graduation, Chreky has worked on over seventy productions in various roles and has instructed film production classes at several universities. He also co-owned a successful bar and lounge, which became the official Washington, D.C., bar of the Miami Hurricanes and the DC Independent Film Festival.
Today, Chreky continues to support the development of a multitude of productions and teaches filmmaking across the globe.
