Isabel Iruani Villanueva (PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison) is an assistant professor of science communication at the University of Miami. Her research focuses on the social factors associated with individuals’ perceptions of emerging science and technology. She employs quantitative and computational methods to examine the intersection of media effects, public opinion, and science communication.

Dr. Villanueva’s research has been published in leading communication journals such as Science Communication, Political Communication, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, and the Annals of the International Communication Association. Her work has also been presented at international conferences such as the International Communication Association (ICA), the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), and Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST).
