The inaugural United Black Students and UTrailblazers Canes Black History Film Festival is focused on short films that reflect on the University of Miami’s rich Black History. The goal of the festival is to enhance and highlight the UTrailblazers Experience at the Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., Breezeway at the Cosford Cinema, which honors the pioneers who paved the way for generations of Black students at the University of Miami. Organizers: Reporters Without Borders, The UM Hanley Democracy Center and the Department of Journalism and Media Management in the School of Communication José Rubén Zamora is a Guatemalan journalist, publisher and founder of three newspapers. His work has exposed political corruption for two decades, but he was arrested and sentenced to six years in prison for a trumped up money laundering charge.
