Jiayun Li is a doctoral student in Communication at the University of Miami, beginning in August 2025. She is originally from Beijing, China. Her research interests include user experience (UX) research, human–computer interaction (HCI), and risk communication, with a particular emphasis on how individuals interpret and engage with complex visual information.

Prior to joining the University of Miami, Jiayun earned a master’s degree from Northwestern University in 2022 and a bachelor’s degree in New Media Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2020. She has professional experience as a product manager and public relations specialist in the medical and manufacturing industries, which informs her interdisciplinary approach to research at the intersection of technology, design, and communication.
