Tasnia Alam

Tasnia’s research examines how strategic communication shapes public discourse, civic engagement, and collective action during periods of political and social change. Her primary areas of expertise include political and organizational public relations, ethics, crisis communication, international communication, social movements, and digital media. She is particularly interested in transnational communication processes and the ways political, cultural, and technological dynamics challenge and expands conventional communication theories. Her scholarship seeks to advance a more globally inclusive understanding of strategic communication and public relations, with particular attention to underrepresented contexts.
With more than 15 years of professional experience spanning diplomacy, higher education, international development, public policy, and strategic communication across Australia and Bangladesh, Tasnia brings a distinctive interdisciplinary and international perspective to her research and teaching. Her career has encompassed leadership, research, and communication roles across universities, embassies, international organizations, and donor-funded initiatives.
Tasnia earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from North South University, as well as a Master of Public Policy from The Australian National University. In the long term, she aspires to a career in academia, contributing to research, teaching, and mentorship in the fields of public relations and strategic communication from a global perspective.
