Ruoyu Sun earned her Ph.D. in Communication in 2023 from the School of Communication at the University of Miami.

She is currently an Assistant Professor of Public Relations at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, where she teaches public relations courses such as Public Relations Management and Crisis Communication.

Ruoyu’s research specialization is corporate public relations and strategic communication. She has conducted a series of research revolving around the impact of organizational internal communication and leadership on employee-organization relationships during organizational change and employees’ prosocial organizational behaviors, such as green behaviors at the workplace. Recently, she has begun to explore how to responsibly use generative artificial intelligence in corporate communications.

Ruoyu has authored more than ten articles in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, International Journal of Business Communication, and Telematics and Informatics. She has been recognized with top paper and research awards from the International Public Relations Research Conference (IPRRC) and the Arthur W. Page Center.
