Eyesiere Essien

Eyesiere Essien is Nigerian. Her research interests focus on themes at the intersection of Intercultural Communication, Gender, Social Change, and Organizational Communication. Before she came to Miami, she obtained her Bachelor's degree in French Studies and a Master's degree in Intercultural Communication at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. As a Ph.D. student at the University of Miami, she brings diverse experiences as a researcher, teacher, television/radio presenter at a media organization, and involvement in non-profit organizations. She has presented a quantitative research paper at the Women of Statistics and Data Science Conference in Reston, Virginia.
After completing her doctoral studies, she aims to pursue an academic career as a professor while also engaging in consulting work with communication-focused NGOs. Her long-term goal is to establish her own NPO that bridges academic research with practical applications in development communication. Her career path reflects a commitment to making a meaningful impact through multiple channels—educating future practitioners, advancing scholarly understanding, and directly addressing communication challenges in development contexts through organizational leadership. She maintains interests in reading, cooking, cinema, photography, gaming, and traveling, all of which broaden her interdisciplinary perspective and enrich her academic work.
