Finding your forever Valentine AND getting a degre

Finding your forever Valentine AND getting a degree!? 💘🎓 For @unitedstatesofsuki and her husband, Anthony, the SoC set the stage for them to do just that.

Meeting in Professor Musca’s Screenwriting class, Suki remembered feeling jealous of Anthony’s writing because it was so compelling and fun! They worked on several student films together and hung out at Titanic every Wednesday night after Professor Rothman’s Film History class. 🎥

One morning while packing up film equipment after an intense overnight shoot, they admitted they had feelings for each other! 🥹 After they both graduated, Suki proposed to Anthony near the set of that fateful film shoot. Anthony later proposed to Suki at the Humphrey Bogart Film Festival in Key Largo! 💍

Suki says, “@univmiami played a huge role in how we met.” Naturally, they invited their @umcinarts professors to celebrate their engagement, and were surrounded by their classmates at their film themed wedding! 🎬👰🏻‍♀️

Four short student-made films were screened and each found a unique way to showcase an aspect of the Black experience for #BlackHistoryMonth. From films centering around stories of what it means to be Black and queer to the impact of consumerism on the Maasai tribe, the dedication and creativity of the filmmakers were incredible! 💫

It was an honor to have so many @umblackalumni back on campus to share their experiences as well as witness the passion of the next generation of #BlackExcellence. 🙌🏾
