General Requirements

Must be a student at the University of Miami School of Communication.

Must be currently enrolled full-time and returning with at least one semester left.

Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

All scholarships require a resume and letter of recommendation. Please see below for additional requirements for each scholarship individually.

Open to Undergraduate students only
The student must be a junior or senior who has been in the School of Communication since their freshman year

Additional Requirements:

  1. In 250 words max, describe your journey in the School of Communication, your career goals, and your financial need for this scholarship.

Open to Undergraduate and Graduate students
Department of Cinematic Arts students are eligible to apply
Deadline is in early Spring

Additional Requirements:

  1. Personal Statement – Answer the following question(s) in 250-500 words max. — What is your submission/project about? (Include your script) How will this scholarship help you?
  2. Budget outlining how the funds will be utilized.

Open to Undergraduate and Graduate students

Additional Requirements:

  1. Personal Statement – Answer the following question(s) in 250-500 words max: What is your learning experience about? How will this scholarship help you?
  2. Budget outlining how the funds will be utilized. Please note the funds will be rewarded the next following semester, therefore; the project will need to be held the following semester.
Open to Undergraduate graduating seniors students only
Department of Cinematic Arts students are eligible to apply

Additional Requirements:

  1. Personal Statement – Answer the following question(s) in 250-500 words max. — Please elaborate on your financial hardships that is hindering you from graduating. How will this scholarship help you?
  2. Budget outlining how the funds will be utilized.

Department of Journalism & Media Management students are eligible to apply

Additional Requirements:

  1. Personal Statement – Answer the following question(s) in 250-500 words max: How would this scholarship help you advance your career in journalism?

Additional Requirements:

  1. 30 second radio PSA
  2. Video for Social Media
  3. Social Media Post

The goal is to have students create messages to promote the Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Initiative and its importance to young adults fighting cancer. While the campaign should be relevant to society as a whole, the primary target is young adults who have a friend with cancer or who want to help another young adult who is going through cancer treatment.

  2. Wine Spectator Project – Portfolio: Visual portfolio on wine and/or lifestyle, health, family, etc. will be displayed in Spring. Please contact the academic advising office for more information (communication@miami.edu)
The work should reflect the spirit and content of Wine Spectator Magazine as well as demonstrating the skills acquired in the SoC.
