  • For its last meeting of the academic year, the Media Management Association invited four faculty from the Department of Journalism and Media Management with considerable professional experience to offer advice to graduating seniors about their first job applications and interviews. The participating faculty were Professors Andrew Barton, Ana François, Sam Terilli, and Boriana Treadwell; they represented all areas of study in the department.

  • On Wednesday, March 29, the Media Management Association welcomed Laura Berga, director of Strategy and Programming Analysis for HBO Latin America Group (LAG). Berga is a University of Miami alumna who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Graphic Design. After beginning a career in advertising, she later returned to UM to complete an M.B.A. with a specialization in marketing and finance.

  • Last Wednesday, the Media Management Association invited ESPN’s David Bearman, manager of production research, and Tiffany Doolittle, manager of business operations, to explain the purpose and functions of Bristol, CT-based ESPN's Statistics and Information. This division specializes in sports data and analytical storytelling and disseminates content across ESPN’s television, radio, digital, mobile, and magazine platforms.

  • Every year, the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) offers a competitive internship program that allows selected students to attend the conference and develop a greater knowledge of the television buying and distribution processes. Since 2011, the annual NATPE conference has been held in Miami Beach. This year, four students from University of Miami School of Communication Department of Journalism and Media Management participated as NATPE interns.
