• On Wednesday, March 29, the Media Management Association welcomed Laura Berga, director of Strategy and Programming Analysis for HBO Latin America Group (LAG). Berga is a University of Miami alumna who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Graphic Design. After beginning a career in advertising, she later returned to UM to complete an M.B.A. with a specialization in marketing and finance.

  • Last Wednesday, the Media Management Association invited ESPN’s David Bearman, manager of production research, and Tiffany Doolittle, manager of business operations, to explain the purpose and functions of Bristol, CT-based ESPN's Statistics and Information. This division specializes in sports data and analytical storytelling and disseminates content across ESPN’s television, radio, digital, mobile, and magazine platforms.

  • Every year, the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) offers a competitive internship program that allows selected students to attend the conference and develop a greater knowledge of the television buying and distribution processes. Since 2011, the annual NATPE conference has been held in Miami Beach. This year, four students from University of Miami School of Communication Department of Journalism and Media Management participated as NATPE interns.

  • On Wednesday, February 15, Dean Lyon, founder and CEO of Splinter Studios, discussed the past, present, and future state of visual effects (VFX) and computer graphics in motion picture and television production with members of the Media Management Association. Lyon is best known for his work as visual effects supervisor on The Lord of the Rings franchise.

She is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Management.

  • On October 3, University of Miami Media Management alumna Marissa Condello visited the campus to speak to Media Management Association members about her professional journey from the classroom to Walt Disney, where she works as a senior pricing analyst. Because she took many of the same classes that media management students in the audience did or will take, the discussion was engaging and highly relevant for the students.
