Job Description

The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a student intern for digital media to join its Communications Staff for the 2024 Spring semester. The student intern for digital media will work with the Digital Marketing Specialist on graphic design and potentially animation content used on the College’s digital platforms (digital signage around campus, website, email marketing and social media).

This position is heavily focused on creative freedom after receiving parameters and the student will likely be included on meetings and/or calls to discuss design elements and inspiration. The student intern for digital media will gain hands-on, real-world experience working in a marketing and communications office, with an emphasis on higher education, but will finish the semester with a portfolio of work samples and office experience. In addition, the intern can receive up to 3 credit hours for internship through their major.

This student will work a maximum of 15 hours a week in the office and must have availability during the day to be present. Some work may be completed remotely (editing, post-production things, etc., that applies to remote work).

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the communications team on design plans and goals
  • Pitching ideas or giving options for design assignments
  • Assisting with larger projects as needed (example: brochure, magazine, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, but collaborate as a team

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experienced use in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Canva – we have Canva Pro and can add you!
  • Ability to multitask and work on a deadline
