Make films in Europe! Five previous student films were screened at the New York Film Festival.

The LA Times calls Prague “Hollywood East.” Study in Prague at Europe’s #1 Film School. Travel to Germany (Berlin, Dresden, Munich); Austria (Vienna, Salzburg) and the Czech Republic (Terezin, Cesky Krumlov) These cities are rich in history, architecture, art,music, theatre and cinema. Excursions include sightseeing tours, international film festivals, film studios, and museums.

With expert guidance, students will get involved with screenwriting, directing, acting, lighting, cinematography, composition, art decoration, and Avid editing as director, actor, author, designer, and producer of their own short digital video/film. All classes in production, history and theory are taught in English by the distinguished faculty of Europe’s #1 Film School and Charles University. Guest lecturers include Academy Award-winning members of the renowned Czech New Wave.

Program excursions include trips to Moravia and Bohemia. Optional trips are planned to Berlin, Dresden, Vienna, Salzburg, and Munich. A major component of the program is a cultural orientation to the history, architecture, art, music, theater, and cinema of the region.

Note: No experience required! Open to undergraduates and graduates from all majors, all schools, at all levels from pre-professional majors to non-majors who love film.

You work at your own level of experience and interest as a director, actor, screenwriter, editor, photographer, art director and producer creating narrative, documentary and animation films. You create your films at the world renowned Barrandov Studio sound stages and backlot where “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Mission Impossible,” “A Knight’s Tale,” and “Amadeus” were filmed. You shoot films and photographs where Hollywood shoots, on location in Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Art Nouveau and modern Prague.

All classes are taught in English by Oscar and international award-winning professional artists and film scholars at FAMU, the Czech National Film School.
