• Come play with us! The Interactive Media End of Year Show is May 3 at 5 p.m. in the University of Miami School of Communication Koenigsberg and Nadal Interactive Media Center. The annual showcase features work by students in the Interactive Media program ranging from games, physical computing, and web, to augmented and virtual reality projects. This event is open to the public.

  • Originally from Ceriano Laghetto, a small town just outside of Milan, Italy, Aurora Occa has certainly traveled and accomplished plenty throughout her collegiate career.

    Aside from the School of Communication’s top-notch Ph.D. program and varied resources, Occa fell in love with the school’s culture and compatibility with her interests. In May, she will graduate with a Ph.D. in Communication.

  • UM Family Night with the Miami Marlins featured a day at the ballpark with activities for faculty and staff, and a special pregame on-field presentation from The Miami Marlins Community Foundation Suzanne Rayson Scholarship Fund to two School of Communication students.

  • On April 10, the Media Management Association hosted Heidi Lieb, senior director of business development at WPBT, to talk about the mechanism and strategies used to sell public television underwriting messages. She came to the South Florida noncommercial television station with considerable sales experience in the private sector, including a three-year stint as an account executive at ESPN.

  • For the first time since the inception of the Lafayette Debates, a team composed of only women clinched the victory. On April 8, Leandra Lopez and Julia Lynch, top debaters representing the University of Miami, defeated the team from France’s École de Guerre to win the annual debate tournament held at the French Embassy in Washington D.C. As tournament champions, Lopez and Lynch, were awarded a Young Ambassadors study tour of Paris sponsored by the French Embassy.
