  • For the last Media Management Association meeting of the fall semester, Freda Pedrique-Valdes, senior account manager at Telemundo 51-NBCUniversal (WSCV and WTVJ), shared her insights about the changing practices in television sales. But while students constantly seek new educational and professional opportunities to strengthen their resumes, Pedrique-Valdes admitted having no resume. She has been working for the same renowned Telemundo-NBC company for over twenty-eight years.

  • In the race to land a job after graduation, some students can only dream of one day hosting a television show. But there was Tej Joshi, B.S.C. ’19, right as he was graduating from the University of Miami, the host of SoKY Sunrise, the morning show for south-central Kentucky’s NBC affiliate television station, WNKY 40. 

    “It’s a really fun show that I’m happy to be a part of,” said Joshi.

  • Over the weekend of Oct. 25, 2019, the University of Miami policy debate team of Zachary Homeijer and Julia Lynch competed in the Varsity division of the Wayne State Ziegelmueller Invitational in Detroit, Michigan. During the competitive two days of debates, Miami defeated teams from Emory University, University of Indiana, and University of Iowa. Homeijer and Lynch ultimately ended as the 11th seeded team, just one spot short of qualifying for the elimination rounds.
