The University of Miami School of Communication is seeking 2 paid Social Media Student Assistants to work 5 hours a week ($15/hour) beginning Fall 2026. The position has the possibility of extension on a semester-to-semester basis.
The Social Media Student Assistant will work on a team led by the Director of Digital Engagement and Graduate Enrollment Strategy in creating and planning content for the School of Communication’s social media channels. The role will be responsible for creating compelling and engaging content, showcasing the school’s achievements, events, and student life.
Additionally, the Social Media Student Assistant will appear on camera to host regular series that spotlight events, opportunities, and our vibrant community. This role offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience including:
- Content Creation: Producing high-quality social media content including graphics, photos, and videos that align with School of Communication brand guidelines.
- On-Camera Hosting: Appearing on camera to host recurring social media series that range from informative to lighthearted, while remaining professional and on-brand.
- Social Media Strategy: Researching peer institutions, platform trends, and emerging formats, and presenting content ideas and insights during weekly pitch meetings.
- Event Coverage: Supporting the full lifecycle of event content, including promotion, day-of coverage, and post-event recaps across social platforms.
- Professional Equipment Use: Gaining experience using industry-standard equipment such as Sony A7iii cameras, DJI microphones, and related production tools.
Open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students studying at the University of Miami. Preference will go to students studying in the School of Communication who will graduate in Spring 2027 and beyond.
Interviews will take place in late April/early May.
