As a graphic design intern, you are responsible for creating a variety of professional and visually appealing marketing products for diverse audiences. You will design logos, brochures, posters, flyers, and other print and electronic materials that reflect the high-quality standards of the Toppel Career Center. This position requires independent judgment and intermediate to advanced graphic design skills and works under the direction of the Marketing Strategist and the Director of Assessment & Communication.
Job Duties:
- Develop, design, produce, print, and distribute departmental media, including but not limited to educational and promotional flyers, TV graphics, social media posts, brochures, posters, manuals, and training materials
- Provide editorial and copy-writing assistance
- Assist in researching and implementing effective public relations strategies to improve marketing
- Assist in evaluating strengths and weaknesses of all current marketing strategies
- Collaborate with other team members and Toppel staff during the design process
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend appropriate staff meetings
- Use the appropriate platforms to submit designs and communicate completed work and other information
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Marketing Strategist or the Director of Assessment & Communication
Required Qualifications:
- Intermediate to advanced graphic design skills (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign)
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint)
- Ability to design under time constraints and respond to feedback quickly and effectively
- Creativity
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to work independently
- Strong work ethic and communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Self-improving and willingness to learn
Desired Qualifications:
- Work-Study or Miami Commitment preferred but not required
- Major in communications or field related to graphic design
- Knowledge of/experience working with web-based Content Management Systems
- iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or Adobe After Effects
- Photography, Videography
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Flash
- HTML (Adobe Dreamweaver)

- e.) A paragraph introducing yourself, answering these questions:
- i.) What is your major? If you haven’t declared, what majors are you considering
- ii.) What will your class year be in Spring 2024 (sophomore, junior, etc.)?
- iii.) How did you learn graphic design? What design classes have you taken and where?
- iv.) Why do you want the position? What do you hope to gain? What can you bring to the role?
