SUMMARY:Getting Real '22 Documentary Conference
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with the International Documentary Association (IDA) as one of their Community Hubs for their Getting Real 2022 Conference. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGetting Real is a biennial conference unlike any other event on the documentary calendar. Now in its fifth edition\, this gathering brings documentary filmmakers and industry professionals together in a communal space where they can build lasting relationships\, encounter inspiring ideas\, and host constructive conversations about the many challenges facing our growing community. This year\, Getting Real will be a hybrid conference\, happening both in-person in Los Angeles and virtually with Community Hubs around the world. \n\n\nUM students and faculty will be able to attend the conference virtually\, for free\, at the Bill Cosford Cinema on Tuesday 9/27 from 2:30-8:30 p.m.\, and Wednesday 9/28 from 10:15 a.m.-8:30 p.m. \n\n\nSessions last 1 hour and 15 minutes\, while keynote presentations are 30 minutes long. \n\n\nKeynote speakers include filmmakers\, Erika Dilday (Executive Producer POV)\, and Nanfu Wang (Director of One Child One Nation\, 2019). \n\n\nHere is the full program at the Cosford Cinema for the two days. \n\n\nTuesday 9/27:  \n\n\n2:30-3:45 Reality Check: Forming a New Documentary Canon \n3:45-5:00 IDA Mixer at the Cosford Cinema \n5-6:15 The Audience of Your Dreams (live) \n6:30-7:45 Shifting Territories: Filmmakers Facing Crisis \n8-8:30 Keynote Talk: Nanfu Wang  (live) \nWednesday 9/28: \n10:15-11:30 Surviving the Aftermath \n11:30 -12:45 Visual Arrangements \n1-2:15 Artists Hold Power (live) \n2:30-3:45 Personal Documentary (live) \n3:45-4:45 Coffee Break \n5-6:15 No Place Like Home (live) \n6:30-7:45 Festival Distribution Report  \n8-8:30 Keynote Talk: Erika Dilday (live)
