Bo Ra Yook

Bo Ra Yook joined the doctoral program in the School of Communication in 2015 with a focus on public relations. Her research interests are in risk and crisis communication, corporate communication, and social media. Yook earned her M.S. in Public Relations from Boston University and her B.S. degree in Multimedia Science with a double major in Public Relations and Advertising from Sookmyung Women's University in South Korea. She works as an instructor teaching Statistical Reasoning for Strategic Communication and a research assistant at the University of Miami. Yook also serves as a conference coordinator for International Public Relations Research Conference (IPRRC).

She formerly worked as an account executive for over four years at AdAsia, a multicultural marketing communication agency in New York City. In her professional experiences, she managed public relations and advertising campaigns with corporate clients from financial, telecommunications, healthcare, automobile, and cosmetic industries.

She recently won the Betsy Plank Graduate Research Paper Award by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in 2016 and the Advertising Excellence from the Institute of Advanced Advertising Studies New York program by the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s) in 2011.

In her free time, she enjoys practicing Pilates, swimming, and traveling with her family and friends.
