The School is proud to announce the Eight UMSSND Newspaper Design Conference, a two-day event dedicated to students and professionals (February 23-25). The event, translated in both English and Spanish, will feature national and international design personalities, including Mario Tason Ruiz, the award winning designer and director from Spain's El Pais Online.

The Fall 2003 semester marked the beginning of the new Visual Communication major, coordinated by Associate Professor Lelen Bourgoignie-Robert. Previously, students interested in visual communication were restricted to a curriculum based around photography. The Visual Communication major will "combine photography, print design, web design, new media, and video into a program that exposes the power of visual storytelling."
