This diverse and dynamic research university is one of the largest, most comprehensive private institutions of higher learning in the Southeast. We draw the brightest scientists, scholars and artists to our faculty, including Nobel nominees, Pulitzer winners, Guggenheim fellows, Fulbright scholars and other outstanding professionals. Communication Ph.D. students are encouraged to present papers at regional and national academic conferences, as well as to publish them in peer-reviewed journals. Ph.D. students, whose papers gain acceptance at regional and national academic conferences, are financially supported in part by the School of Communication for at least one academic conference annually. The School also brings distinguished international journalists, scholars, and artists to campus to meet with graduate students and faculty.

Financial aid:
All Ph.D. students receive annual full tuition remission for 18 credits per year, plus annual stipends beginning at $14,000 and increasing annually over three years to $16,000. During their first year of study, students assist professors in undergraduate classroom instruction. In subsequent years, qualified students teach selected undergraduate classes.
