Valerie Manno Giroux received her Ph.D. from the University of Miami in Educational Leadership/Administration and received her Master of Arts from the University of Miami in Speech Communication. Her taught courses include: Leadership Studies, The Executive Communicator, Business Communication, Small Group Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Public Speaking and Writing for Communication and Social Interaction. Her research interests include the effects of video streaming technology in the public speaking class room.

Dr. Giroux has published several articles including “Experimenting with Video Streaming Technology in a Public Speaking Course” (Dupagne, Manno Giroux, & Vieira, 2004), which is available in Feedback, 45 (3), pp. 15-23. “Effects of Video Streaming Technology on Public Speaking Students’ Communication Apprehension and Competence” (Dupagne, Stacks, & Manno Giroux, 2005) was presented at the National Communication Association Convention, and is available in the Journal of Educational Technologies and Systems, 35 (4).

Dr. Giroux has also written Instruction Manuals for two text books: Communicating in Small Groups: Principles and Practices by Beebe and Masterson and Business and Professional Communication: Principles and Skills for Leadership by Beebe and Mottet.
