CORAL GABLES, FL (February 11, 2008) – Morgana Rollé may have taken the international travel and tourism route in her public relations career, but the campus of her alma mater still feels like home.

The public relations specialist at Unique Vacations Inc., the worldwide representative of Sandals beaches and resorts, is returning to the University of Miami next week for the School of Communication’s Ninth Annual Communication Week.

She’ll take part in a panel on international public relations set for 10:10-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, in Room 2055 of the new international wing of the School of Communication, 5100 Brunson Dr.

“I still stay involved in my sorority, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin [the nation’s first Latina sorority, founded in 1975],” says Rollé. “But this will be my first opportunity to talk with students interested in public relations careers.”

Other panelists will include Kimberly Weissman of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Isaac Nahon-Serfaty, Ph.D., of the University of Ottawa; and Angie Henderson Moncada of Advertising Ventures. Panel moderator will be Donn J. Tilson, associate professor of public relations at UM.

Communication Week brings top professionals and scholars to campus to engage in discussions, panels, screenings, exhibits and networking events.

As a student, Rollé says, she had wonderful internships, including working with the fund-raiser Zo’s Summer Groove, and with EMI Latin and the American Black Film Festival. Before joining Unique Vacations, Rollé spent 2 ½ years at Clear Channel Worldwide radio as promotions coordinator.

Rollé says she loves the corporate responsibility part of her current job: “We work with many non-profit organizations, so being able to give back on a corporate level is a great responsibility to have and very rewarding.”

Asked what her advice might be for students during Communication Week, Rollé’s reply came quickly:

“Follow your dreams and work hard to achieve them. No matter what happens, persevere.”
