Coral Gables, FL (Feb. 23) – During the week of February 15-22 over 50 guests, alumni and communication industry professionals were part of panels, lectures and workshops attended by School of Communication students and faculty. The ninth annual Communication Week was packed with discussions on new media, breaking into the industry advice and opportunities for students to network with Miami professionals and more.
The School hosted the first annual Comm-Mingle networking event in the Common Ground Courtyard where over 150 professionals and students gathered for a reception. “The Comm-mingle was a huge success! Students were able to network and make lasting impressions in a high-energy, friendly-setting,” said Luis Herrera, Assistant Dean of Admission, Alumni and Academic Services.
“I felt this year’s Com Week brought us a broader spectrum of all the aspects of communication. I am a PR major and really enjoyed and could relate to the advertising and journalism guest speakers. It was a good example of how media and communication is increasingly becoming more convergent,” said political science and public relations sophomore Madelyn Reus.
