Walter McDowell, an associate professor and director of the electronic media, broadcast journalism, and media management program in the School of Communication, has been awarded the Barry Sherman Teaching Award by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Established in honor of the late Barry Sherman, who served as director of the prestigious Peabody Awards, the competition for the Barry Sherman Teaching Award is in scope and honors one individual each year for “excellence and innovation in teaching media management and economics.”
Dr. McDowell joined the faculty in 2001 to teach in the media management program in UM’s School of Communication.
