Coral Gables, FL (April 7, 2008) - The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) awarded eleven Region Three Mark of Excellence Awards to School of Communication students at the organization’s March 29th conference at the University of South Carolina. The awards honor the best of student journalism throughout the country and offer 39 categories for print, radio, television, and online collegiate journalism.

For over 30 years, SPJ’s Mark of Excellence Awards have honored the best of student journalism. School of Communication students won for Region Three, which includes Alabama, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. The first-place winning entries will be judged in the national competition at the 2008 SPJ Convention & National Journalism Conference in Atlanta.
