“It was very interesting to see the international audience intently looking at the images. People seemed to really react to the stronger images which were located on the first floor of the Museum and then their expressions changed as they made their way to the softer images on the second floor,” said Loup Langton, who was co-curator of the exhibit with Lelen Bourgoignie-Robert.

Concurrently the Knight Center for International Media sponsored the Somosfoto 2008 photographic workshop for Latin American photojournalists in Santo Domingo from March 15 to March 22.  Twenty-eight professional photographers from nine Latin American countries worked with twelve top photographers and editors from the United States.  The distinguished group includes international award-winning photographers Melissa Farlow, Randy Olson, Maggie Steber, Brenda Ann Kenneally, Todd Heisler and Pablo Corral and leading editors Mike Davis, Janet Reeves, Mark Edelson and Kathleen Hennessy.
