CORAL GABLES, FL, February 11, 2009 – It seems just about every college student knows about social networking, and most use some form of it daily.
The question is: Do they realize every move made online could also be building their personal “brand”?
Alex de Carvalho, an expert in the use of social media to build reputation and brand, will address these and other issues when he visits the School of Communication for its 10th annual Communication Week.
Carvalho’s presentation will be at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in Studio A on the ground floor of the school’s Frances L. Wolfson Building.
“Alex is engaging, and his interactive presentation will be aimed at broadening the student’s perspective into a professional, global one,” says Colee Splichal, faculty lecturer in public relations who will introduce de Carvalho.
De Carvalho will touch on his work as the co-founder of StartPR, an online tracking service for reputation management, blogger relations, and brand monitoring. He will also talk about his consultations with various business organizations on using social network and media to build brand and community relationships.
The idea and use of social media for businesses is an emerging one, and de Carvalho holds workshops to educate organizations.
