The Master of Arts in Multimedia Journalism program provides an opportunity for students to enhance their abilities as visual storytellers and to better understand the contexts within which those stories are produced. The program emphasizes theoretical and production practices within the fields of journalism, still photography, video, sound and multimedia.
The program emphasizes storytelling that includes meaningful content within the global community. It requires technical literacy in traditional and cutting edge technologies. Each course builds upon an understanding of the visual storytelling process, and each course stresses the theoretical underpinnings and ethical foundations of the journalistic tradition.
Our internationally recognized faculty is a blend of award-winning professionals and distinguished researchers and includes two Knight Chairs specializing in Visual Journalism and Cross-Cultural Journalism.
This one and a half year (including summer) program culminates in a multimedia project class in which the student uses the technical, storytelling and critical skills acquired to produce a multimedia project of significance. The capstone will be completed under Com 695.
