The School of Communication Doctor of Philosophy Program is an innovative, multicultural degree path that encourages top graduate students to design a course of study that can focus on communication and social interaction research, public relations, print and broadcast journalism, media policy and management and other multimedia fields of communication. Students tailor a program consisting of core communication components, an area of specialization and complementary interdisciplinary coursework from within the School and throughout the University.

Possible areas of specialization for doctoral work include international and intercultural communication, health communication, organizational communication, public relations, journalism and other mass communication, media development, and media history.

SoC graduate students are an integral part of the School's future and find a dynamic and flexible approach to curriculum that allows their individuality to flourish.
