  • Broadcast Volunteer, SAFEE Organization, Opa-Locka, FL
    Internships

We invite South Florida broadcasting students to act as volunteer reporters, writers, and technical crew for an upcoming live television production.  This is an excellent opportunity for students to build experience and video for personal resume reels.

The not-for-profit Operation SAFEE Organization is presenting a "TAG" (touch-and-go) intercollegiate landing competition for trophies that is set to occur Saturday May 3, 2014 at the Opa-Locka Executive Airport (see attached flyer).  Pilot competitors will represent Miami-Dade College, Broward College, and other local flying schools.  The main purpose of the event is to entertain the general community, but more particularly to inspire young people into aviation careers.  To that end, the US Coast Guard has agreed to participate with a live search-and-rescue demonstration set to immediately follow the TAG competition, as well as hosting a large static display of aircraft.  In addition, the exhibition will feature actual flights for young people at affordable prices.
I am the executive producer acting on behalf of the "SAFEE" Organization to live-stream the event as CCTV into the Orion Jet Center hangar, where most spectators will be located alongside the static attractions.  To accomplish this task, we are inviting broadcast student volunteers to assemble content, pre-record video packages, and otherwise assist with preparations now, and then to appear on the live program according to their availability.  Please promptly pass this information along to all interested parties, advising them to contact me immediately if interested.
Thank you for your kind assistance!

  • Creative Development Intern, Sentinel Pictures, Santa Monica, CA
    Motion Picture,Internships

    Company:

    Sentinel Pictures

    Job/Intern Title:

    Creative Development Intern

    Job/Intern Type:

    Internship

    Openings:

    2

    Location:

    1554 18th Street Santa Monica, CA 90404

    Company Description:

Feature film and television production Company

    Job/Intern Description:

The main focus of the creative development intern is to provide both script coverage and development notes for Sentinel Pictures’ Story Department. Coverage refers to reading and analyzing a screenplay, then providing a summary, evaluation, and comments on that screenplay. The purpose of this process is to identify key elements of the screenplay along with its strengths and weaknesses. The weekly coverage assignment, an integral part of the internship, allows the intern access to studio level material as it makes its rounds through Hollywood. Additionally, Sentinel Pictures affords its interns access to our internal script library as well as the ability to read virtually any screenplay that has hit the screen or is currently in studio development. The result is generally an overall improvement in the intern’s own writing

    through immersion.

Beyond providing coverage, the intern is also given the opportunity to provide development notes on projects that are likely to be pitched to studios or projects that are already in active development in-house on Sentinel’s development slate. These notes are used to provide the screenwriter and creative team with insight and perspective so they may improve their draft through a rewrite or polish. The notes are often given directly to the screenwriter and upon request the intern will be put in contact with the writer to discuss his or her notes. In addition, whenever feasible, the intern is allowed to participate in development meetings with the creative team.  Additionally, creative development interns are immersed in the daily workings of Hollywood, and given the opportunity to learn how to “roll calls” for executives and assist in the meeting scheduling process - both vital tools to learn when entering the job marketplace.

Ultimately the role of the creative development intern is to assist Sentinel Pictures with screening prospective screenplays and projects, while helping aid in the development phase of feature film production. The intern will get out of the internship what he or she puts into it. For ambitious interns, Sentinel gladly allows them to participate in story discovery by sourcing scripts to be acquired and developed into films. For story discover, the intern is granted access to all of Sentinel’s memberships and subscriptions to publications.

Sentinel’s interns have gone on to work at other production companies and talent agencies throughout the business.
